After a pleasant trip along the Adriatic coast we arrive at the skiing location of Prati di Tivo (1465m). Our journey continues the same day over the Passo delle Scalette in the Vallone delle Cornacchie and then further to the most southern glacier field of Europe, the so-called Ghiacciaio del Calderone. A traverse across the glacier and a short final ridge on skis in good snow conditions leads us to the summit of the Corno Grande (2912m), the highest elevation in the whole Apennin. The descent route offers the skier, alongside the fun factor, some really stunning scenery in this southern mountainous area. The following day, the ascent of Der Pizzo Intermesoli (2635m) is, so to speak, the prelude to an exquisite evening meal of fish – directly on the coast.
